Chevy Volt is the 2011 North American Car of The Year

General Motors didn’t have a very good run in the last few years. The popular US auto maker was so dangerously in the ropes that was even on the brink of bankruptcy. But GM is nothing but resilient and now after their troubles, it is showing signs that it’s raring to fight once again. Just recently, GM’s Chevrolet Volt was voted 2011 North American Car of the Year, the latest award the car has received after getting Motor Trend Magazine’s Car of The Year and Green Car of The Year nods.

The noteworthy thing about this is that the Volt beat tough competition from Nissan and Hyundai. We just may see more good things coming out of the GM plant in the future.

Just when you thought the celebrations are over, here comes another milestone – Land Rover is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year! Land Rover first introduced its original Series 1 off-roader in 1948 and now has been enjoying six long decades in the business already.

Last year, it enjoyed record global sales of over 226,000 vehicles. What a glorious year, isn’t it? And presently, it has a five-model line- up headed by the Range Rover. It’s getting more and more exciting, eh?

As most of us are fully aware of, Land Rover is now owned by Tata and they are the ones planning the year-wide celebration around the world.
