Is this the solution to the cramped up city parking lots?

80.jpg

Living in a cramped up urban area can sometimes get in the nerves of car drivers. Overpopulated city equals fewer parking spaces, that’s it for them. Sometimes you find yourself swearing since the only available empty parking space is so small, that you couldn’t open your car doors if ever you take that spot. Thanks to the car beside the empty space. He probably needs more parking 101.

But of course, innovation and creativity has an answer. Joalto Design Inc. managed to conceptualize a design that made parking in cramped spaces less of a hassle. They tested their design with the 1993 Lincoln Mark VIII, but sadly, when they sent the car back to Ford, Ford rejected the idea of having “roll down” doors.

To please a new generation of customers this year and beyond, Ford of Europe has done some reinventions in its small car range and come up with its all new five-door Fiesta. The production version of the Verve Concept car, the stylish Fiesta is powered by a Duratec 1.6-liter Ti-VCT that combines power with fuel economy.

I have only seen pictures of the car online but I can already tell it will delight customers (especially American car fans) because of its new “kinetic design” exterior, craftsmanship and high-tech features.

Dubbed as the first product of Ford’s major global product development, the car will be sold in between 2008 to 2010. The car will be unveiled tomorrow at the Geneva Motor Show.

Blast from the past: Shelby GT Mustang

If we could give one car that was iconic of the way American cars are meant to be, it would have to be the Mustang, the ultimate muscle car.

The particular model that stands out is the Shelby GT Mustang series, which refer to a number of Mustangs modified by Carroll Shelby’s company. Shelby Mustangs were high performance variants that were present in mid 1960′s to 1970. The most common look for these cars is to sport two stripes that run at the top-middle of the car, from the hood to the back. These stripes are referred to as Le Mans stripes. The car is so popular and sought after that models today are sold for six figure sums. Ford has also attempted to cash in on the popularity of the iconic automobile, and released a 2007 version of the Shelby GT Mustang.

Corvette Z06

Corvette Z06 has actually been a closet fuel miser, but few people have known the reality. The Z06 is the current king of the hill ‘Vette, with a tire-shredding 500 horsepower on tap, and managed an impressive trip average of 23.4 mpg…a fast car is not automatically a gas hog.

Why is a Z06 a good buy when it comes to gas?

It’s science at work here. Weight and aerodynamic drag are two primary enemies of fuel efficiency, which explains why heavy, blunt-faced, traditional sport utility vehicles and minivans generally suck down fuel and the sleek, relatively light-weight Z06 burns conservatively.

So if you are the 40 something or 50 something baby boomer accused of buying a Corvette because of a mid-life crisis, you can retort by pointing out your Corvette gets more miles-to-the-gallon than your buddy’s Land Rover or minivan.
